Matt began his guitar career at the age of 14, where he took lessons under Tom Atwood and Alex Scholz. He progressed quickly through the basics and soon after studied heavier genres such as rock and metal. He later found his way to the guitar program at Westfield State University, where he studied classical guitar under Professors John Mason and Phillip de Fremery. During his studies, Matt had the opportunity to perform in a variety of solo and chamber ensemble settings.

Currently, Matt has been spending his time teaching and performing in western Massachusetts. Recent projects include solo performances, duets with Cellist Zach Sears, duets with Soprano Patrice Metcalf, and Musical Theatre pit orchestras (Bonnie and Clyde; The Wedding Singer; Chicago). His performing experience includes everything from rock bar gigs, to jazz big bands, to classical guitar ensembles.
